I think it is great, but how do I mark the posts as read?
Hi Tom (and thanks, John, for the "heads-up"),
Following the relocation of this forum and its database from the old web hosting server, to the new one here at Quantum, I've had to reset some admin settings with the database to restore the "Mark as Read" functionality. Complicating things was that we also upgraded the vBulletin forum software to the newest version during this transition, so it was also necessary to update some of the internal template files, but it appears to be working now.
When you first login to the forums, before navigating anywhere, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link labeled "Mark as Read." That should convert every discussion in every thread in one fell swoop. The visual indicator for this operation is the cartoon balloon icons for each listed forum. Forums containing unread items have bluish icons. Grey icons means all contained items have been read.
A 2nd way to perform this function globally, is by clicking the "Settings" link in the very top right of the forum window. From the submenu that appears, choose choose "Mark Forums Read" in the "Forum Actions" submenu and and all discussions in every forum will be converted at once.
To mark individual discussion threads within a particular forum, click a forum topic to display its list of discussion threads. Check the checkbox located at the right end of any listed discussion thread you wish to mark as read, then choose "Mark This Forum Read" from the "Forum Tools" menu (in the grey menubar).
PLEASE NOTE:Depending on which web browser you use, you may not see this change until you refresh or revisit the page.
