The SWPC homepage is up and running but still under construction. Check it out. Tell us what you think.

Recommend you indicate which links aren't implimented yet (asteric, or color, or....)--- can't tell what's under construction and what's broke.

Any particlular reason why this thread is moderated?

You hafta be kidding. :( Your El Cheapo "Flash Player" runs on my "personal, home" computer, which has a Linux OS, in Firefox... but I can't get it out of the way (or control it in any other manner, either) from in front of the home page proper. Nice "drop-in action" on the pics, (in a "local TV Station, Weather First" kinda way) but it sure gets OLD after about 62 times. Can't see anything of the new home page except the very bottom edge.
I have a WinDoze Vista OS on one of my network boxes (so your typical computer "drivers" -as opposed to computer Pilots- can operate it), and when you try to "Go To" the Homepage by putting "www.shortwing.org" in the Address Bar, it doesn't go...but it DOES instantly crash the Firefox browser every single time (I wouldn't have IE installed on my computer on a BET).
Hey, look...I'm just "informing you" of how it works for me, so far. Not trying to draw any blood...

The pictures of the convention winners block out the rest of the website for me and I can't click on any of the tabs on the left hand side. Anyone else have this problem?

I'm running Firefox on a Mac and the new page seems to display fine. I'm not a fan of the layout though, to me it looks dated, like from 10 years ago. And the picture transitions look like a power point slide show from the same era. Those transitions were great fun to play with but were really annoying to watch after a while.
If it were mine, I'd swap the black background for a softer, friendlier color, change the fonts to something less blocky (plus, the edges are jagged and not smooth), use just a fade in/fade out for the pictures, and get rid of the moving "news" box. (every time I scroll down the page the text in the box disappears while I'm scrolling).
It's a good effort, and I certainly couldn't do anything like it myself so I guess I'm not in a position to criticize, but there are a lot of examples of web sites to look at, ones that might be a little easier on the eyes.

It would be easier for people to say what they think of it if they could read it. :eek:
The home page is one jumbled mess. Blocks of text and graphics are on top of each other. The mandatory sideshow is 385kb by itself. Not good for dial-up, metered service or mobile browsers (bberry, etc.). Why is it needed? Even now, not everybody has flash and some browsers (iPhone) don't support it. Way too slow to load. If one button has to be enlarged to fit the text, they all should be. Top logo text is pixelated.

A thread that should probably be here rather than on the Shortwingpipers.org website:

To whom it may concern;
Approval for the forums on SWPC
I refused your application to join because it did not contain enought information that I could assure myself you were not a spammer. If you will resubmit it and give me something to work with I will be happy to allow it.
