FLYING COMMERCIAL AIRLINES
If you are flying commercially, the Dayton International Airport (DAY) is more accessible to Middletown, more user-friendly, and generally has lower prices than does Cincinnati International Airport (CVG) in Northern Kentucky. Middletown is 34 miles or 37 minutes from the Dayton Airport and is 46 miles or 51 minutes from CVG.
Aeronca Aircraft Corporation
The Aeronautical Corporation of America, later to be called Aeronca, located from Cincinnati to Hook Field in Middletown in 1940. The company designed and built thousands of aircraft, notably the Champ, Chief and Super Chief. Today, the company is an operating division of Magellan Aerospace. Every two years, Middletown hosts the National Aeronca Association convention and fly-in where aircraft owners, pilots, enthusiasts and former employees of Aeronca gather at Hook Field Municipal Airport for a weekend of flying and camaraderie. This will take place June 17-19, 2010, the week immediately preceeding our SWPC convention.
